So I dragged myself out tonight…

because I had tickets to see one of my most favourite human beings, singer/musician Vince Jones.

Now I don\’t expect a lot of people outside of Australia have heard of him unless you are particularly into Jazz music.

What can I say except he and his band were absolutely AWESOME.

One of the things I love most about him is the things he believes in and is passionate about as a human being. That the world needs more love, that we need to look after the environment, that the power to change things lies with us, the people.

I bought his CD while there and it has the most beautiful quote of his and I am going to put it in here right now…

\”I believe music can be used to melt military tongues, I believe music can connect wires in the human mind and awaken love in the heart of the community. I believe greed, war and discrimination are waiting in anticipation for a song to delete them once and for all. I hope we – all of us human beings – write those songs with our lives.\” Vince Jones

If you want to have a listen to some of his music go to his website http://www.vincejones.com.au

What a way to spend an evening. I almost didn\’t go because I have been so unwell, but fortunately I am starting to feel so much better. I am so glad I went to see him because I haven\’t seen him live for quite a few years and its good to know he just gets better and better as he gets older.

Doodling my days away…

April 27, 2007 at 2:48 am (Art, Doodles, Drawing) (, , )

Not quite well enough to do stuff, not quite sick enough to stay in bed…

So yesterday I doodled my day away.

I lay on the couch and whenever I felt like it I added a bit to this doodle.

When I first looked at it yesterday I didn\’t like it at all.

I said to Paul, \”I don\’t like this doodle\” and he said something along the lines of \”how can you do something so cool while you are still sick\”.

Then this morning when I woke up I liked it again.

I won\’t write too much I am a bit tired.

I went to the doctor again because I am strangely allergic to certain infections. I have had this thing called Erythema Multiforme since I was about 13.

I have had it from, amongst other things: a small pox vaccination, laryngitis, pneumonia, and most recently when Truffles fell on my face and cut my eyelid with her claw I had a tetanus vaccination and was allergic to that. But mostly I get it if I have a chest infection or sinus infection or something along those lines. Basically I come out in a rash that looks something like targets that spread out all over me and then join together. Its pretty disgusting hahaha and I feel wretched.

So now of course I have that on top of my infection and I have a temperature still. But I went to the doctor and he has given me some medication to clear it up. Yay. Actually I had to go to two doctors because the first one hadn\’t seen this condition before and was reluctant to give me the medication I wanted. But then I went and saw another one who used to be my mum\’s doctor (lovely man too) and he knew exactly what to do.

Now I am exhausted but I want you all to know I really appreciate the lovely little messages you are all leaving me and hopefully I will be able to get back to you all soon.

Be Careful

I just had a comment posted in my comments. It had no photo or name just \”Hug posted 4 seconds ago\” but the whole thing was a link.

When I clicked on it I went to a blank profile.

When I went back to my page, the contents of my page had disappeared, not the comments or my photo, just the middle section.

Once I deleted the comment it went back to normal.

So if you see a strange looking comment with no photo and no name that is a link, delete it straight away, don\’t click on it.

My guess is that somehow it had some code in it that caused my contents to get stuffed up.

So take care out there my friends.

I will be back with a blog post very soon, I promise, unfortunately my very very special friend Paul Addie has hijacked my computer as he has discovered MySpace. So I am lucky if I get a look in these days. But thats okay, he is an up and coming musician who needs the support to get his CD released.

So that is all from me for now. Love you all to bits.

What Easter Means to Me…

April 5, 2007 at 2:39 am (Uncategorized)

1175765966-hr-1778

My mother spending hours and hours in the kitchen cooking special Russian Easter food, Kulich and Paskha. Colouring hard boiled eggs in pretty colours.

Going to midnight mass at the Russian Orthodox Church on Saturday night standing in the churchyard with candles as the procession proceeds around the church singing.

Returning home in the early hours of the morning finally being able to actually eat the food my mother had cooked.

Waking up in the morning and getting presents for the coming winter like fluffy slippers and of course, chocolate eggs.

I have only once attempted to do the cooking that mum did for our family every year. That was in 2003 when she broke her hip just before Easter, so I cooked the Russian food for her and took it to her in hospital. A few months after that she had a stroke and never cooked for us again.

I miss the tradition that my mother loved so much. If I had children no doubt I would pass this tradition on to them. But for the time being I just remember Easter as being a time of love and contemplation for my mother and her family.

Last year I was moving house and too busy to really think about how wonderful Easter was for me growing up.

This year I realise just how much love my mother had for her family and how she showed it by creating a glorious feast for us all every Easter.

P.S. Photo of Kulich, hard to describe, a sweet kind of bread with fruit is as close as I can get, and Paskha, sweet soft cheese also with fruit. Both are just delicious but extremely hard to cook.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..

Thank you all for welcoming me back home.

I am so tired. I have been in Sydney at a conference called SemiPermanent. I went to the same conference last year in July when I visisted Taronga Park Zoo and saw those wonderful giraffes with the great view.

Didn\’t get to the zoo this time. But the conference was fantastic. It will also be in Perth and New Zealand this year and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in graphic design, photography, visual effects for film, illustration etc.

Anyway, like I said I am very tired and have to go back to work tomorrow, so that\’s all for now. But I certainly missed everyone, felt lost without my 360 buddies! Didn\’t even have time to check my email.
