Just a Quick Hello to Everyone from Me….

February 28, 2007 at 3:49 pm (Uncategorized)

I just wanted to say that every morning when I open up my blog I am constantly amazed at the wonderful comments that my friends out there and others leave for me.

I can\’t tell you all enough how wonderful this makes me feel.

Everyone gives me so much love that I don\’t know how I can possibly give that back to all of you.

So if I don\’t visit your page for a while, its only because I am busy and not spending a lot of time at my computer.

I just want you all to know how much I appreciate the support and happiness that you give to me everyday.

Sometimes my heart just feels so full and I wish I could reach out and hug everyone of you for being such a great community.

Okay… that\’s enough for today, don\’t any of you get any cavities from that! hahaha

More Mouse Catching Antics….

February 26, 2007 at 5:11 pm (Cats) ()

Fluffybutt has decided to wage her wrath on the mouse community of my back yard.

Sunday night she appeared at my back door meowing loudly with another mouse in her mouth.

She showed it to me and then dropped it in the backyard again as she did last week.

But Harvey wasn\’t around to steal it. Instead Truffles decided that she should play with it for an hour or two before eating it.

So here is a photo of Truffles at my back door on the deck, with said mouse. Poor itty bitty mouse.

So now I have a crack team of assassins at my disposal, so mice of the world, beware!!!

A New Poem…

February 25, 2007 at 2:52 am (Poetry) ()

Feelings came upon me gently

A soft caress across my cheek

Unexpected, caught off guard

No need to play hide and seek

And some how there is knowing

Deep down within our souls

Profound, serene, safe and secure

As destiny takes the controls

We both know there’s no denying

Of what’s gone on before

Disappointment, pain and grief

Are with us forever more

But as the time ticks over

And the beast starts to retreat

Liberation, cure and relief

Now life seems more complete

No longer we lie bleeding

Flowers bloom where once was frost

Tenderness, love and desire

We’ve found what we once lost.

Giraffes with a Multi-Billion Dollar View…

February 22, 2007 at 6:56 pm (Uncategorized)

I don\’t know how many of you out there have been to Sydney, Australia.

But many of you may know of the famous Sydney Harbour and its Opera House, Bridge etc.

Also on the harbour is Taronga Park Zoo.

The thing I most love about Taronga Park Zoo is that the first thing you see as you walk down the hill is the Giraffes with the mulit-billion dollar view. There is something so surreal about these wonderful animals juxtaposed against a backdrop of the city, that just makes me gasp in awe everytime I see it.

Sydney is no doubt a beautiful city, especially the areas around Sydney Harbour, and I have great memories of Bondi Beach and lots of other places we used to go to when I was a child. We moved away from Sydney when I was 10 and now I really prefer it where I am.

I like the slower pace of where I live and because its smaller (but still a city) people seem to know each other and there seems to be more of a community feel about it. I feel the people here are much friendlier as well. So I am thankful that I live where I do and I have the friends I have.

Anyway, the photo above is a picture of those lucky giraffes taken last year when I went for a short visit to the zoo.

A pathway followed

A road travelled

A track traversed

A lesson learnt

Today I saw something I haven’t seen in quite a while…

February 17, 2007 at 11:52 pm (Cats) ()

I was standing on my back deck this morning watching my girls watching whatever they were watching, when all of a sudden Fluffybutt started scratching around in the leaves insanely. I had no idea what was up. I thought she saw a cockroach or a skink or something like that.

I picked up Truffles to give her a cuddle when she hissed, I looked over and saw not only that Harvey was suddenly on the scene but Fluffybutt had in her mouth, by the tail, a little mouse.

I put Truffles down and went to get my camera as Fluffybutt came towards me with her prey. Looking pretty darn pround of herself I might add.

But Harvey was stalking her, strangely enough she put the mouse down, which is when I took this photo, as she stared at Harvey who really, really wanted that mouse.

The mouse was still alive and so it ran into the bushes which sent both Harvey and Fluff scurrying after it. But she seemed a bit half hearted in her pursuit and Harvey emerged with the mouse fully in his mouth. He then jumped the fence and headed for home, I am sure to show his mum and dad what he had caught.

Its almost like Fluffy knew that she really did all the hard work and I saw her so she didn\’t need the mouse anymore.

I haven\’t seen Fluffy catch a mouse in ages, in fact I haven\’t seen her catch anything for ages.

Which is a good thing because I don\’t mind if she is catching mice or rats or bugs, but I don\’t like it if she is catching baby bush turkeys or any other wildlife.

That was my Sunday morning excitement.

Maybe I ought to send her over to Ireland to Karl.

These walls within my mind are thin

And as I dream my night begins

Magnetic warmth all around me

Drawn together but also set free

I am breathing you in

You are breathing me out

Now darkness can’t win

Love has broken the drought

A story told by crumpled sheets

While not a soul is on the streets

In this moment only two exist

Hypnotised when they first kissed

I am breathing you in

You are breathing me out

Now darkness can’t win

Love has broken the drought

Lovers love that love is blind

And in the night they search and find

A taste of honey on silky skin

Time for life to really begin

I am breathing you in

You are breathing me out

Now darkness can’t win

Love has broken the drought

Even in the cold light of day

They are two who will not betray

For the understanding between these two

Is reflected by me and you

I am breathing you in

You are breathing me out

Now darkness can’t win

Love has broken the drought

Now Something Really for Valentine’s Day…

February 13, 2007 at 8:01 pm (Poetry) ()

Oh to be a pussycat

Lying on the bed like that

Sleeping, sleeping all day long

What could possibly go wrong

If I could just take her place

The gentle look upon her face

Sweetly purring and oh so free

There\’s one thing I\’d do differently

I\’d turn you into a pussycat too

So I could just lie here with you

All curled up in a warm embrace

Never moving from this place.

Something that does annoy me…

February 13, 2007 at 4:56 pm (Uncategorized)

I don\’t have a car. So I catch a lot of public transport.

What is up with the lazy arsed youth of today?

I saw old people getting on the bus this morning and no one wanted to give up their seats for them. Not even teenagers in their school uniform.

I was standing too so I couldn\’t, but I always would offer my seat to anyone who seemed like they may need it more than myself.

Now everyone just sits there with their damn plugs in their ears and ignores everything that is going on around them.

It is truly a sad reflection of today\’s society that young people will not think about anyone else but themselves.

Older people have fragile bones and if they fall over on a bus that could mean a broken hip, or even worse.

I think they need someone on the bus with a cattle prod to get them off their butts to do the right thing.

And its not only for the old person, you should feel like doing something good for someone else because it makes you feel good too.

Thats all for the moment.

Happy Valentine\’s Day everyone!!!

More Stuff from the Vault…

February 11, 2007 at 1:39 am (From the Vault)

Something I don\’t tell a lot of people is that my great grandfather on my mothers side was an Austrian Count.

I don\’t usually tell people because I don\’t know much about him except his name was Von Radgio (I am not even sure how that should be spelt) and that he wasn\’t a very nice person, quite violent from what I understand.

My great grandmother needed to get a divorce from him, which was unheard of in those days, so she stood in the crowd as the Tsar passed by and threw a letter into his carriage. She was immeadiately arrested but then released after the Tsar read her letter and granted her a divorce. Pretty amazing story!

This was his cutlery, if you look at the close up you can see the letter \”R\” with a little crown above it. My mother kept it and divided it up between us kids many years ago. So we all have a few pieces.

Her family used to use this cutlery for as long as she could remember.

I am not sure how old it is but it would be at least as old as when the last Tsar ruled Russia. So about 100 years old, maybe older.

Its very nice to have it and I will cherish it forever.

P.S For those of you who were wondereing, they were living in Russia at the time. My great grandmother was Russian.
